Re-entry Centers

Below are community based organizations and youth support network groups operating in non-formal settlements in Nairobi. These organizations supports youth development and also rehabilitate released juveniles thus contributing to positive re-integration of juveniles back into the society.

NGEI ONE:
Ngei 1 Development Youth Group exists to empower the youths to live an honest and self-reliant life through income-generating activities, community mobilization and offering quality services.

Vision for Youth Talents Development Association – VYTDA
Empower the youth by mentoring them to be resourceful people in the society by sharpening their artistic, sports and talents hence reducing anti-social activities.

FHOK Nairobi Youth Centre
The centre is run by young people and provides an environment where youth share their life experiences; learn life planning skills, access rehabilitation services besides holistic development of other skills.

CHRISC Kenya
CHRISC Kenya is a sport and development organization with the mission of enhancing youth potential through sports and envisioning a transformed and actively engaged youth for society development.

Youth Empowerment Support Services – YESS
Youth poverty, unemployment and idleness remain the key factors pushing youth into vices including drug and substance abuse, crime and violence. YESS empower the youth by mentoring them to become resourceful and productive people within the society.

U-tena
U-Tena mobilizes, recruits, and trains youth from the slums to provide community based popular education. Through traditional music, dance and theatre, youth deliver messages around HIV and sexual health to community.

Mathare Youth Sports Association (MYSA)
The organization empowers young people to fulfill their potential and improve their lives and their communities through sport. MYSA aims at building a brighter future for the Kenyan youth.

Johari Foundation
Johari aims to eliminate long term poverty in Kenya through the building of Social Enterprise and Development Programmes. The organization operates at grassroots level helping vulnerable children and young adults take charge of their lives and build a positive future for themselves and their families.

Kawangware Vision Centre
The main activity of the centre is a micro business in which the youth (both girls and boys) hand-make and design, silk-screened eco-friendly gift bags, greeting cards, gift-wraps and screen printing. These items are sold to businesses and safari companies and the proceeds realized are used and shared among the youth participants; used to uplift their life as well as to maintain the project.

Kibera Harmlets
Through variety of programs, the organization aims at fostering a healthier social, physical and mental environment for the youth in Kibera slums, empowering the them to realize their full potential.

Youth Empowerment Initiative Kenya
The organization focuses on training Kenyan youth in leadership skills, organizing forums for young people to network with corporate world focusing on talks and seminars on different life issues.
